A beautiful and elegant Piaget vintage dress watch with the reference 9862 D 3 in 18k yellow gold, with a stunning and perfect lapis lazuli dial. This reference is part of the oval vintage Piaget models from the 60s/70s, a very elegant case and bracelet with a great finish, as one would expect from Piaget from that period. The Piaget hand-wound calibre 9P is responsible for displaying the correct time.
When you take a look at the history of Maison Piaget, you realise that Piaget was the undisputed number one in the field of stone dials. Whether it was onyx, mother-of-pearl, jade or, as in this case, a dreamlike lapis lazuli dial, Piaget mastered the art like no other. The true beauty of this dial is particularly evident in sunlight, with fine traces of gold dust on the right-hand side, which is completely normal for a lapis lazuli stone, and no cracks or similar damage, which is extremely rare in stone dials today.
As usual with Piaget, the workmanship of the case and bracelet is perfect, a flawless combination of first-class craftsmanship and beautiful design. The original Piaget bracelet is also a highlight in itself, made of 18k yellow gold and featuring the original jewellery clasp. On the case back, there is a very raised gold hallmark, which indicates that the watch has been lightly polished a maximum of 1 to 2 times in its lifetime. This Piaget is currently in beautiful condition, with normal signs of wear for its age, but without any major dents or flaws. If desired, the watch can of course be refurbished to perfect condition, but we have decided against this in order to preserve its original condition.
In August 2025, our master watchmaker carried out a service, as already mentioned, without refurbishing the case or bracelet. The dimensions of the watch are 32 × 25 mm (without crown), and the total weight is approximately 73.3 grams. The bracelet has a total length of approximately 17.5 cm and can, of course, be shortened by a good goldsmith if necessary. All in all, a great vintage watch with a beautiful and flawless lapis lazuli dial!
