Very rare and beautiful Vintage Piaget Polo with the reference 761 C 701 D in 18k yellow gold. This reference is part of the first version of the Polos, alongside two other Polos with a round case, as well as two with a square case. The reference 761 has a diameter of 27 mm and the legendary calibre 7P, which at the time held the world record as the thinnest quartz calibre in the world. In addition, this watch has a beautiful onyx dial, without cracks, chips or other damage, especially in sunlight it has a fabulous radiance!

In the late 70s and 80s, Piaget only produced around 4,000 to 6,000 Polos in total. There are definitely not that many left today, because a lot of them were unfortunately melted down due to the high weight and material value of the watches. Nobody knows exactly how many original Polos still exist today. Finding a Polo from the first series in good condition is therefore not necessarily easy, especially with rare dial variants.

The Piaget shown here is in very nice and unpolished original condition and has a total weight of 110.4 grams and a total length (bracelet with watch) of approx. 16.0 cm. The watch has an original Piaget double folding clasp, which was mainly used in the first watches with the reference 761. The early models also did not have a ‘P’ on the cover of the clasp. The serial number is 353xxx, which also indicates that the watch is an early variant, probably from 1980. This rare Polo will also be presented to the new owner with the original Piaget box and outer box.

The Polo itself is a very exciting and underrated model of the Piaget brand, but in recent months and years it has been gaining more and more appreciation. Many now recognize the beauty in this extremely imposing and massive watch, the release of the Polo 79, the reissue of the classic Polo, is also attracting a lot of attention. In the 1980s, the Polo was one of the most sought-after and interesting models on the watch market and it embodied an image of elegance and sportiness at the same time. With the admiration and enthusiasm that the Polo receives today, you can only hope that this image will return and that the Polo can once again characterize an era of its own!
