Rare and beautiful Patek Philippe chronograph and perpetual calendar with the reference 5970J-001 in 18k yellow gold. Many Patek Philippe connoisseurs and collectors claim that this is one of the best watches Patek has ever created, but why? What makes this more modern interpretation better than the icons 1518, 2499 and the 3970? Well, the first difference in this model is the dial. Thierry Stern said that Patek's designers worked hard to make the most of the extra space on the dial compared to the 3970 due to the larger case diameter. The Patek Philippe team worked to make it as simple as possible and tried about 20 different dials, Stern said. The result is simply perfect in the eyes of many collectors. One thing that makes this yellow gold version special is its low production. The 5970 was only launched in rose gold and white gold in 2004, while the yellow gold models were only offered later, around 2008, and possibly only for a year or two. The result is that the supposedly "most common" case material of the reference was only produced in an estimated 100 to 300 examples. The interior also plays a role: the 5970 is often referred to as "the last Lemania", as Patek used a Nouvelle Lemania calibre for the last time, the PP CH27-70Q. This is special because all the icons also had no in-house movements, so one can speak of the end of an era. This 5970 has a beautiful white dial called Opalin and is on a Patek leather strap with a PP folding clasp in 18k yellow gold. The watch is in very good condition and comes in an absolute full set with original box and outer box - correction pen - Patek guarantee certificate (sold in 2011 - Bucherer Germany) - second solid case back (still shrink-wrapped) - hangtag - folder with booklets - description. Personally, this is how I rate the 5970: Like many, I love the 3970, 1518 and 2499, you get used to the smaller size and that special vintage look. The 5970 is a good bit bigger and looks more structured than its predecessors. You have to get used to these characteristics first, but then you fall madly in love with the 5970!
